Tata Neu Credit Card: HDFC vs SBI
Now, let’s get back to our main question: the difference between bank variants. Currently, Tata Neu has partnered with 2 banks, HDFC and SBI, to issue Tata Neu Co-branded Credit Cards:
- Tata Neu HDFC Bank Credit Card, and
- Tata Neu SBI Bank Credit Card
Both banks offer same rewards and benefits structure with Tata Neu’s 2 different card variants (Infinity and Plus) but there are some differences in their joining fee offer, lounge and other features. We have shared the key differences between both the bank variants below.

What about eligibility?
HDFC publishes different income requirements for Infinity and Plus. SBI Card uses its own internal eligibility and approval criteria. Therefore, being eligible for one issuer does not necessarily mean you’ll be approved by the other.
Note: HDFC Bank periodically runs promotional campaigns and festive offers providing Lifetime-Free (LTF) credit cards to eligible applicants. I personally applied during their promotional campaign (Tata Neu Rewards League) and got it LTF.
Payment Network: RuPay or VISA?
Tata Neu Credit Cards are issued on 2 payment networks: RuPay and VISA.
RuPay
- Enables ease of payments through UPI. Pay at any store through Merchant QR.
- You can claim 1.5% cashback on merchant payments through Tata Neu App UPI even on small, local merchants (up to ₹500 per month).
- Current RuPay Credit Card Offers
VISA
- You get VISA’s Signature variant
- Better for International Spends
- Current VISA Credit Card Offers
Both variants have their own pros and cons. The choice of payment network depends upon your own preference and requirements.
Note: Tata Neu keeps rolling promotional offers rewarding the Tata Neu RuPay Credit Card holders the most during the promotional offers and rewards leagues.
Domestic and International Airport Lounges
The Tata Neu Credit Card not only rewards you generously for shopping and bill payments, but also offers up to 8 domestic and 4 international lounge visits per year, depending on the variant. Complimentary domestic lounge access is linked to a minimum spend requirement.
Tata Neu Infinity Variant
8 Domestic + 4 International Lounge
(2 domestic lounge visits per quarter on reaching the milestone spends in the previous quarter decided by bank)
Tata Neu Plus Variant
4 Domestic Lounge Access
(1 domestic lounge visit per quarter on reaching the milestone spends in the previous quarter decided by bank)
SBI Bank Variant requires a minimum spend of ₹75,000 in the previous quarter for the Infinity variant domestic lounge access while a minimum spend of ₹50,000 in the previous quarter to qualify for the Plus variant domestic lounge access.
HDFC Bank Variant requires a minimum spend of ₹50,000 in the previous quarter to qualify for domestic lounge access on both the Infinity and Plus variants.
Note: Access to domestic lounges has a minimum spend requirement but there is no requirement to claim international lounge access.
Forex Markup (2% + GST):
The Tata Neu Card Infinity variant charges 2% + GST on international spends, making it a decent choice for international online transactions and overseas travel.
